US Open: Roger Federer Thrashes Great Britain's Dan Evans

It could not have been below than expectations that Great Britain's Dan Evans will find it difficult to Roger Federer. He was outlasted conveniently by the much experience and versatile Swiss player in the third round at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Federer breezed through the match in straight three sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1 and saved 1-in-2 break points faced against the British player whilst he converted 7-in-14 of his, serving 10 aces.

Evans blamed the ease with which he was beaten on fatigue and claimed that it plagued him from the second round match against Lucas Pouille whom he beat in a four setter that lasted for three hours. Now, having to play another match in 24 hours against somebody like Federer who plays "nearly-perfect tennis" can be "impossible".

"I thought it was pretty tough to be first up after playing yesterday if I'm brutally honest," he claimed. "To try and beat him being tired, stiff, and having played four sets...it is nigh on impossible. He played near-perfect tennis."

Actually, the five-time champion's first clean victory at this event - he dropped the opener against Sumit Nagal and Damir Dzumhur. Also, he maintains a clean sheet in all three ATP FedEx matches played against the Briton.

Federer, who is vying for his first title US Open title since 2008 will meet in the fourth round Belgian player David Goffin on Sunday.
