Robert Lewandowski Extends Contract With Bayern Munich
Robert Lewandoski has chosen to stay much longer at Bayern Munich having signed to extend his contract for another two years, the forward will remain at the club until 2023.
Previously linked to Chelsea, the 31-year-old could not make the move due to the English club's two years transfer ban. He was also linked to other top-flight clubs like Liverpool and Manchester United.
Speaking of the new signing with the club, Bayern Much CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge praised the Polish player as the "best centre-forward in the world" in his opinion and his glad that he has committed to staying at the club "for a longer time to come."
"We are confident that with Robert, we will achieve our ambitious goals in the coming season and in the years to come," Rummenigge said.
In Bayern's first two games to the start of the season, Lewandowski scored all the five goals so far - a brace against Hertha and a hat-trick against Schalke 04 on Saturday. Since he joined the club from Borussia Dortmund in 2014, he now has a total of 133 goals in 161 appearances.
