Rafael Nadal Withdraws From Cincinnati Masters
Rafael Nadal has opted to taking a time out for some rest and would not be playing at this week's Western and Southern Open, Cincinatti, according to the organisers.
On Sunday, the Spaniard breezed past Daniil Medvedev in straight 6-3, 6-1 to win for the fifth time the Coupe Rogers title in Melbourne which makes it his 35th ATP Masters 1000 title - the biggest feat ever reach by a player in Masters.
Nadal's withdrawal has nothing to do with injury but cited fatigue for his decision. Already he has won three titles this season - Italian, French and Canada Open - and would not be available until the US Open.
"World No. 2 Rafael Nadal, our 2013 champion, has withdrawn from #CincyTennis citing fatigue," said the organisers.
Whilst the 33-year-old will be missing the tournament, former world no. 1 Andy Murray will be returning to action on court in Cincy after months of injury spell and will be joined by other top players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev will be competing at the tournament.
