Matrix 4 Is Officially Set To Happen With Keanu Reeves Reprising Role


After 16 years hiatus, Warner Bros. has assured that the fourth instalment of its sci-fi action-packed film 'The Matrix' will definitely be happening and Keanu Reeves will reprise his role as 'Neo'.

It is exactly two decades since the film debut the big screen casting Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne in leading roles but went silent after the release of the third Instalment 'The Matrix Reloaded' in 2003.

Carrie-Anne Moss will be also be reprising her role as Trinity and Lana Wachowski will return as the film's director and writer, but it is not sure yet if Fishburne will be back for his role in the fourth entry.

Announcing the development on Tuesday, the studios' chairman, Toby Emmerich, said in a statement, 2We could not be more excited to be re-entering The Matrix with Lana [Wachowski]. Lana is a true visionary -- a singular and original creative filmmaker -- and we are thrilled that she is writing, directing and producing this new chapter in The Matrix universe."

After the release of John Wick 3 - a franchise that cast Keanu in the lead role - the Canadian is currently reprising his role oncoming film Bill and Ted Face The Music, which is scheduled to be released on 17 October.

The Matrix peaked at #1 spot in the domestic box office and closed with a worldwide gross of $463.5 million, however, all the three entries have hauled in a total of $1.633 billion globally.
