Marcus Rashford Ready For Leadership Role In Manchester United Attack
Marcus Rashford wants to lead the attacking line of Manchester United and is ready to take up the responsibility left off in the squad by Romelu Lukaku, who moved left for Italians giants Inter Milan on window transfer deadline day.
Aside from Rashford, United have Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez in the attack after the Belgian left for the Italian in record signing of £74m. Also, as an option for the club is teenage English player Mason Greenwood. However, Rashford has been Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's favourite since his arrival at the club.
"I feel like that's the next step for me," the 21-year-old said during an interview acknowledging his chances of leading the attack.
"Everything goes in order of the way it should be done. I remember these similar steps when I first went into the Under-18s and it takes you a season to grow into that standard of football."
In the transfer, United brought in new three new players - Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka - all at the cost of £148 million. The club was also linked to Juventus' Mario Manduzkic as replacement for Lukaku, unfortunately, ended interest in striker because the Croatian did not want to leave Turin.
He added, "For me it was just about getting the new contract out of the way and solidifying that I'm here for the club. It's about getting the club back to where it belongs."
