Leonardo DiCaprio Donates $5 Million To Amazon


Amazon Forest has for weeks being devastated by wildfires in such a magnitude that has attracted the attentions many high-profile individuals far and wide.

Joining force with the Brazilian government to put out the blazes, Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio has pledged $5 million towards fighting the Amazon wildfires. 

The 'Titanic' star actor, 45, through his organisation 'Earth Alliance' launched a fundraising named Amazon Forest Fund, designed specifically to protect the forest describe as the 'Lung of the Earth' and its habitat. 

Monies raised by the organisation is intended to going to local bodies already operating in the Amazon. Those bodies include: Instituto Associacao Floresta Protegida (Kayapo), Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB), Instituto Kabu (Kayapo), Instituto Raoni (Kayapo) and Instituto Socioambiental.
