La Liga: Aritz Aduriz's Scissors Kick Hands Athletico Bilbao 1-0 Victory Over Barcelona
Barcelona's start to the opening suffered a huge setback with a 1-0 defeat to Athletico Bilbao on La Liga opening day from s late goal with a bicycle kick.
Lionel Messi was in the line-up for the match and Luiz Suarez who led the attack came close to putting the team ahead but his left-footed shot beat Bilbao's Unai Simon to clip the goal post and bounced off wide.
Attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho was also missing in the line-up amidst link to Bayern Munich, nevertheless, Barca well controlled the game and missed a second chance of getting a goal in the first half as Rafinha's shot from out the box clipped the crossbar after Simon dived to reach it whilst in flight.
Despite the hosts having an unimpressive match at home, Aduriz seized an important moment on the brink of full-time and slammed Ander Capa's cross into the net with a scissors kick.
Barcelona have been working towards returning Neymar to the club from Paris Saint-Germain to boost the attack but have faced strong resilience from the French side which intended to recoup amount spent on his record-breaking signing of £198m in 2017.
However, the Catalan who have won the La Liga four-time in the last five season after 11 unbeaten streaks against Bilbao, lost their first tonight.
