Hungarian Grand Prix: Max Verstappen Pips Bottas Valtteri To Claim First Ever Pole Position
Max Verstappen sent his Dutch fans into a celebration mood as he claimed his career first ever pole position in millisecond ahead lead over Bottas Valtteri.
Bottas gave the Red Bull's driver a good challenge in the last three laps only to be pipped to the cross-line with 0.018 seconds lead. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton made it to the third position with Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel chasing him up.
Verstappen maintained his incredible performance from German Grand Prix where he won his first race of the season and today he won for Red Bull F1's 100th different pole position and the fourth youngest after Sebastian, Alonso and Leclerc which he claimed in Bahrain.
"I'm very happy about today," says Verstappen afterwards 2There is still a race to do and that's at the end of the day the most important, but for me, today was an important one. It's a very nice one and also a great one for the team."
Last week, Mercedes duo for the first time this season failed to make the podium and Hamilton who dominated Q2 thinks something there is something for him figure out on his performance especially about his car.
"It's not a terrible day and it's not a great day. Third is still a position which you can fight from," Hamilton said, "Unfortunately got to qualifying and lost some performance somewhere, so just got to figure out where."
