Former Nigeria Coach Samson Siasia Banned For Life By Fifa


Former Super Eagles manager Samson Siasia has been ban for life from all football relating activities after being found guilty of match fixing by Fifa.

An investigation into an alleged match fixing scandal involving Siasia was launched in February by the body's Independent Ethics Committee and the Nigerian found to have breached Art. 11 (Bribery) of the 2009 edition of the FIFA Code of Ethics.

In the statement released by Fifa on Friday, it confirmed that the committee "has found Mr Samson Siasia, a former official of the Nigeria Football Federation, guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches."

The statement went on to confirm that the committee has "banned him for life from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) at both national and international level."

In addition to the sentence  of Siasia who won the African Cup of Nation for his country in 1994 is a fine of CHF 50,000 ($50,000). Accorsing to Fifa's official site, he has been notified of the decision and the date his ban takes effect.

The case of the Nigerian involvement in bribery stemmed from the body's extensive investigation into activities of match fixing carried out by one Mr Wilson Raj Perumal for betting purposes.
