F2 Driver Anthoine Hubert Died In Crash At Spa, Aged 22


Tragedy struck F2 when its driver Anthoine Hubert, who was involved in an accident that happened at the Belgian Grand Prix on Saturday, passed away from injuries sustained, he was aged 22-year-old.

The crash happened on the second lap and amongst the three drivers, Juan Manuel Correa and Giuliano Alesi, who was involved, only the Frenchman did not survive and after being rushed to the medical centre

In a statement released by FIA, the sport's governing body confirmed that the victims of the incident were taken to the medical centre and that it is "providing support to the event organisers and the relevant authorities, and has commenced an investigation into the incident."

The other two drivers were also taking Spa medical centre after the accident and were treated for injuries sustained from the incident. They are understood to be in stable condition.
Confirming his demise, the body said, "As a result of the incident, the FIA regret to inform that the driver of the car #19, Antoine Hubert (FRA), succumbed to his injuries and passed away at 18:35"

Hubert's colleagues and racers have been sending their condolences on the social media platform and Mercedes wrote in a tweeted message, "The entire Mercedes family send its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Antoine Hubert and his Arden and Renault on this tragic day."
