Bayern Munich Sign Philippe Coutinho On Loan Move From Barcelona
Philippe Coutinho has left Barcelona for German side Bayern Munich in a season-long loan move plus an option for a permanent deal set for £109.8 million.
Bayern closed the deal for the attacking midfielder ith an upfront payment of £7.8 million and will also be paying his wages through the season.
Phil, who joined Barca in a £149 million deal from Liverpool, was deemed to be right replacement for Neymar, but have not been a favourite player at Nou Camp. He has been tipped to leave the club since Barca's defeat to Liverpool in the semifinals of the Champions League.
Confirming his signing, Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said in a statement, "We have been working with Philippe Coutinho for some time and are very happy that we were able to realise this transfer now."
The Brazilian was previously linked for a return to Liverpool but talks failed with the club likewise with Paris Saint-Germain, who turned down an offer from Barcelona to swap him for Neymar Jr.
"For me, this move means a new challenge in a new country with one of the best clubs in Europe," Phil said on signing the deal. "I have big ambitions and I'm convinced that I can achieve them together with my new teammates."
The 27-year-old on spent 18 month at Nou Camp during which he scored 21 goals in 76 appearances and won with the Soanish La Liga with the team back-to-back.
