Wimbledon 2019: Venus Williams Concedes First Round To 15-year-old Cori Gauff
In what can be described as one of the biggest upset in tennis history, former champion, Venus, was routed in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 by the world no. 313 who was born in 2004.
"She did everything well today," says Venus who hasn't won the title since 2008 "She put the ball in the court, which was better than I did...It was a great match for her."
Actually, Coric was the better player, taking a quick break in the first set at 3:2 to clinch her first set win against the 2008 champion. She yet again took a break on Venus who double-faulted and later failed to convert a break point as the 15-year-old claimed the victory.
"I don't know how to explain how I feel," Cori says on beaten whom she described as her idol and admitted she was anxious but had to "calm" herself down after every point.
