Wimbledon 2019: Serena Williams To Face Simona Halep In Final

Serena Williams is one match away from winning her 24th major singles titles as she defeated Czech player Barbora Strycova in the semi-finals.

The four-time Wimbledon titlist wasted no time thrashing Strycova who had her three break points chances saved by the American en route winning in straight sets by 6-1, 6-2.

She is now on course to end her title drought which has lasted for two seasons since she won the Australian Open in January 2017 having defeated her sister Venus in the final by 6-4, 6-4. Within this period of her no title run, she and her husband welcomed their first child together Alexis Jr after they wedded in November 2017.

Currently, Serena is the second all-time major singles title holders in women's tennis with 23 titles behind Australian player Margeret Court who leads with 24 titles.

She set up a final match against Romanian player Simona Halep who thrashed Ukranian player Elina Svitolina in straight sets 6-1 6-3 to reach the final.
