Wimbledon 2019: Serena Williams Loses Title To Simona Halep

Serena Williams' bid for her first time in two years has eluded her after losing in the final to Simona Halep who becomes the first Romanian player to win a Wimbledon title.

Simona clearly outshined and thrashed the 23-time Grand Slam winner in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 winning 84 per cent of her first-serve points and saved the only break faced against her opponent.

The American player failed to tie record-set by Margaret Court for all-time biggest major singles title winner and her title drought since Australian Open 2017 persisted. However, she has won Wimbledon four times.

Serena in her post-match interview admitted her opponent deserved to win saying that she "played out of her mind" during the final match that lasted for about an hour.

Just as she did last year, Serena finished a runner-up at the Championship with straight sets 6-3, 6-3 loss to German player Angelique Kerber who at this year's event was eliminated in the second round match by an American player Lauren Davis.
