Wimbledon 2019: Novak Djokovic Set Up Third Round Match Against Hubert Hurkasc.

Top seed Novak Djokovic had a cruised past Denis Kudla in straight sets 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 to set up a third-round match against Polish player Hubert Hurkasc.

Kudla could not scare the defending champion who is bidding for his fifth Wimbledon title. The American only lasted an hour and a half with the world no. 1 and could only win 54 per cent of his first-serve points.

"Consistency was one of the keys and focus points of my Grand Slam career going back 10 years," the defending champion said "I always aim to play my best Grand Slams. The quality of tennis that I produce in the Slam is pretty high."

Djokovic is making his 11th consecutive appearance at the competition which he opened with a three sets 6-3, 7-5, 6-3 win over Philippe Kohlschreiber. He extended his winning streak to 28-in-29 matches in Grand Slam tournaments - he has only lost to Dominic Thiem at French Open in the Semi-final

In the earlier draw, British no. 1 Kyle Edmund took an early exit from the Championship after the second round match defeat to Fernando Verdasco.

Edmund was set for the victory after winning two sets but the Spaniard broke back in the third and fought through a tiebreak before coasting to the victory by 4-6, 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-3, 6-4.

Fernando will meet in the third round, an Italian veteran Thomas Fabbiano who made it through a hard-fought match with Ivo Karlovic in five sets 6-3, 6-7(6), 6-3, 6-7(4), 6-4.
