Ruben Loftus-Cheek Signs New Five-Year Deal With Chelsea

England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek will be committing more years to Chelsea and has signed to a new contract that will run until 2023 with the club.

The club's director Marina Granovskaia in a statement expressed the club delight in retaining the midfielder at club and acknowledged his role in the team's successful outing in the 2018-19 season.

"We see Ruben as an important part of the squad of many years to come and we are very pleased he also considers his future to be with Chelsea," Marina said according to the club's website.

Loftus-Cheek who is a product of the club's academy made his debut appearance in the senior team in December 2014, replacing Cesc Fabregas during the team match against Sporting CP in the Champions League group match and played his first Premier League game two months later.

The 23-year-old spent a season at Crystal Palace in a loan spell and returned to the club in the 2018-19 season under Maurizio Sarri who led the team to win the Europa League title but he was ruled out of appearing in the final following an Achilles injury.

Marina went further and added: "Under Frank Lampard's leadership, we believe he will be a key player for Chelsea and we look forward to welcoming him back once he has recovered."

Loftus picked up the injury during a friendly match against New England Revolutionary and that culminated in him not being able to participate in the UEFA Nation's League finals.
