Romelu Lukaku: Manchester United Decline £54 Million Offer From Inter Milan

Inter Milan Antonio Conte may be keen on signing Romelu Lukaku but Manchester United are considering an offer of £75 million before opening discussions with the Italians.

Conte's interest in the Belgian dated back to his days at Chelsea but did not succeed in bringing him to Stanford Bridge from Everton and has re-open his bid for the forward at Inter.

United has declined an offer of £53.9 million from the Italian side for the 26-year-old because it did not meet up with the club's demand for the player.

"You know very well that I like this player, also in the past when I was Chelsea's coach and I tried to bring him," Conte said when asked about interest in the player.

He went on to say, "I consider him an important player for us to have a good improvement. We know which is our situation; we will see what happens."

Lukaku, who for an injury, did not feature in United's pre-season matches in the United States and Australia, has been tipped to replace Mauro Icardi who is set to leave the club this summer.

The former Everton forward was signed to United in a five-year deal under Jose Mourinho in 2017. He was deemed a replacement for former England captain Wayne Rooney who returned to Everton.
