Neymar Officially Request To Leave Paris Saint-Germain

Neymar reportedly is making his way out of Paris Saint-Germain after he officially made it known to the club on Monday that he wants to leave.

The Brazilian, who joined the club in a record-breaking five-year contract of £198 million in 2017, has been rumoured to be linked to Barcelona, but the Catalan side is yet to make an offer for him despite his intent to take a pay cut of £12 million, which will see his annual salary drop from £36.8 million to £24 million - that was his previous annual salary at Barcelona.

Barcelona might be the 27-year-old new home because the Spaniards are set to lose one of their attacking midfielders Philippe Coutinho who has been linked to a return to Liverpool or elsewhere - potentially Manchester United according to his agent who sees Red Devils as a preferred move for the player.

PSG are understood to be making efforts to keep him at the club but the forward who preferred to call time on his spell at the club tendered his request to leave after meeting with the club's sporting director and did not mention any clubs of intent to move to in his letter.

In the 2018-19 season, Neymar did not appear in most of the club's Champion League fixtures due to injury and was hoping to return to the pitch in quarter-finals when the team was eliminated by Manchester United, which staged a remarkable comeback to beat his team in the second-leg tie of Round of Last 16.

Nevertheless, in the two seasons spent at Parc des Princes during which he scored 34 goals in 37 domestic appearances, the forward won Ligue 1 title back-to-back with the club.
