Marvel Studios Unveils Wesley Snipes Replacement In Blade Reboot

Wesley Sniper will not be reprising his lead role in his famous film Blade as Marvel left many stunned on who will be taking up the role from him at Comic-Con on Saturday.

The franchise premiere in 1998 with Wesley taking the leading role in the first entry that notched in no. 2 in debut weekend and closed at the box office with $70 million in gross. Wesley maintained the lead role in following sequels - Blade II and Blade: Trinity - he will be handling over the cap to a new actor in the on-coming reboot.

Standing in the midst of Marvel stars at the film festival event in San Diego, the studios' president Kevin Feige announced Ali Mahershala as the new actor to be cast in Blade the Vampire hunter in the reboot, taking the cap from former lead actor Wesley.

"We have for years, wanted to find a new way into Blade, we love that character," Kevin said

"Mahershala wanted to come in and meet with us. And when Mahershala Ali wants to meet, you take the meeting...We were talking very polite, and he was talking about what a fan he is, and then he just cut right to it, and was like, "Blade". And we were like 'yes'."

Meanwhile, back in 2017, Wesley had previously made known his interest to reprise his role in the franchise but as Marvel will have it, he will have to pass the baton to the Moonlight lead actor, Mahershala.

"When anyone asks 'who could be the next?... You already know there's only one Blade fam! #Blade," he tweeted.
