Leicester Player Harry Maguire Closes On Record-Setting £80 Million Move To Manchester United
Both clubs reportedly have agreed on the offer and United are understood to have put on the table plan for an initial payment of £60 million and the remaining amount will be paid in add-ons of £20 million.
United's chase for the England international began under their former manager Jose Mourinho, but Foxes rejected his offer stating that it will only be open to discussing the 26-year-old's exit unless the offer is not less than £75 million.
Now, that Maguire closes on landing a deal that is £5 million in excess of Foxes' benchmark, he will in effect, become the world most expensive centre-back upsetting previous record set by Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk in a £75 million move from Southampton in 2018.
However, Maguire was also linked to Manchester City, which just like United, saw their offer of £70 million for the World Cup veteran rejected by Leicester and have no intentions to up their bid.
The Sheffield-born player joined Leicester from Hull City in 2017 after a loan spell to Wigan Athletic in a five-year contract for £12 million with the potential of rising to £17 million from add-ons.
