Harriet Tubman's Biopic Gets First Official Trailer
Harriet Tubman, is a heroine in black history that to many does not need many introductions, yet her impact in the course of history is such that can not just be swept under the carpet.
After a long wait for first screenplay of the iconic figure's biopic, Focus Features released the film's first official trailer on Tuesday with Cynthia Erivo starring in the lead role as Harriet.
Her journey to change the course of history began when she made a daredevil move of jumping off a bridge to be free from slavery. However, she had something to say to her white pursuers before the leap, "I'm going to be free or die." Fortunately, the worst she expected did not happen.
Harriet effort in history was acknowledged by former United States President Barack Obama who announced that she will be replacing Jackson on $20 bill. Initially, the bank note was planned to be out for use in transactions in 2020 but has been delayed until 2026 by President Donald J. Trump.
The film was first announced in September 2018 with Kasi Lemmons as the director and will hit the bigscreen in Winter on November 1.
