German GP Qualifying: Lewis Hamilton Takes 87th Pole Position As Both Ferraris Drop Out Over Engine Problem
Ferrari had a disappointing at Hockenheimring as both Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc dropped out whilst Lewis Hamilton raced on to claim his 87th pole position.
Hamilton was faced with a late challenge from his teammate Valterri Bottas and Max Verstappen but both drivers could upset him and trail in second and third position respectively.
Sebastian suffering a turbo problem in the first qualifying and as forced to drop out and will be starting in 10th position tomorrow. Likewise was his teammate Leclerc, who was vying for the third position until the third qualifying when his car developed fuel problem and dropped out.
"The car has been feeling good, but the Ferraris have been on another level," said Hamilton "If Leclerc had been there, it would definitely have been close between us."
Ferraris were the favourites to take pole in the final session with a good start from Sebastian in the first practice coming out fastest, and at the second practice, Leclerc came fastest. Unfortunately, that will be the second time in three races that Sebastian will have an engine problem.
