Frank Lampard Appointed As Club New Manager On Three-Year Contract
Former Derby County manager Frank Lampard has officially been appointed as Chelsea manager on a three-year contract.
The former England international started his managerial career at Derby County and in his debut season, led the club to finish second in the EFL Championship after losing 2-1 to Aston Villa in the play-offs final.
Lampard will replace Maurizio Sarri who after a season spell in the Premier League, left the club to replace Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus.
"I am immensely proud to be returning to Chelsea as head coach," the 41-year-old said on his appointment "Everyone knows my love for this club and the history we have started."
During his terms as a midfielder at the club, he made 648 appearances and was part of the team that won the club's only UEFA Champions League title under Roberto Di Matteo as caretaker manager in 2011-12.
He added: "However, my sole focus is on the job in hand and preparing for the season ahead. I am here to work hard, bring further success to the club and I cannot wait to get started."
