Atletico Madrid: La Liga Might 'Block' Antoine Griezmann's Move To Barcelona
La Liga might have to "block" the deal signed by Antoine Griezmann with Barcelona as player's former club are in dispute with the Catalan side over the amount to trigger his release clause.
Barcelona and Atletico are having a rift over what should have been paid in release clause for the Frenchman as the later claimed their rivals paid was incorrect.
Atleti claimed the deal was struck before Griezmann's buyout clause dropped from £178.4m to £107m, it is on basis of this that La Liga president Javier Tebas says the player's move could be blocked.
Tebas made the league's position on the matter known in an interview with a Spanish radio station Onda Cero and confirmed that Atleti have officially "submitted a complaint" to them.
"It is possible to block a player's transfer," said Tebas "[Atletico] submitted a complaint and put in doubt whether we should pass Griezmann's licence to Barcelona."
Nevertheless, he admitted that it would not just be a spontaneous action but that "There's a process that has been put in motion and those overseeing it will have to come to resolve the case."
The 28-year-old has already made his first appearance with Barcelona during the team's friendly match against Chelsea in Japan which they won by 2-1.
