Arjen Robben Officially Retires From Professional Football

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has formerly announced his retirement from professional football career after 19 active years.

It has long been speculated that the former Chelsea winger would not continue with the career when his contract with the German Bundesliga side expired in June. In fact, the anticipation was that he and his teammate Franck Ribbery would not return with the team next season.

According to a statement from the 35-year-old on Thursday, he confirmed his retirement as saying: "I have decided to put an end to my career as a professional football player."

Robben started his career at Dutch side FC Groningen at the age 16 and ended it with winning Bundesliga title last season at Munich with which he won eight league titles.

During his three-year (2004-07) stint at Chelsea, he won with the club two Premier League titles, FA Cup, two EFL Cup and the FA Community Shield in 2005.
