2019 Women's World Cup: United States Beat Netherlands 2-0 To Lift Trophy Fourth-time
The United States has emerged as the winner of the Women's World Cup to be four-time champions of the competition.
The Netherlands lost 2-0 to the American in a second half strike from penalty spot-kick converted by Megan Rapinoe and Rose Lavelle's individual effort finish from the edge of the box.
It will be the second consecutive time the United States will be lifting the trophy under their manager Jill Ellis. Megan, 34, won the Golden Ball for having scored the most goals (6) during the tournament for which she was awarded the best player.
Megan produced the opening goal when Dutch defender Stefanie van der Gragt's tackle inside the box was ruled to be foul after the referee consulted the VAR.
Minutes later, Rapinoe delivered a finish of the ball from the edge of the box and doubled the lead for the United States in the 69th minutes.
The penalty scored by megan was the first ever in the Women's World Cup and at her age she is the oldest to have played im their consecutive finals (2011, 2015 and 2019).
