Wimbledon 2019: Rafael Nadal Seeded Behind Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer
Defending Champion Novak Djokovic has been seeded No. 1 for this season's Wimbledon while Rafael Nadal was seeded in third place behind his Swiss counterpart Roger Federer.
Meanwhile, in the ATP ranking, Nadal leads Federer in ranking with 1,300 points to be world no. 2 but that did not take effect in the seeding process for the world-renowned grass-court tournament that kicks off on Monday.
Ahead of the announcement, during an interview on a Spanish TV Vamos, Nadal had admitted that he might be seeded behind Federer because the ATP ranking might not be considered.
"Wimbledon is the only tournament of the year that doesn't follow the ranking," Nadal said
"Either way, being second or third seed, I have to play at the best level to aspire to the things I aspire to. It is better to be second than third, but if they consider that I have to be third I will accept."
Chances are the Spaniard would meet Djokovic in the semi-final and Federer in the final and that is a huge challenge ahead in the bid for his third title at the tournament.
