Stuttgart Open: Dustin Brown Upsets Alexander Zverev To Reach Quarter-finals
Top seed Alexander Zverev took an early exit from the MercedesCup after being toppled by his compatriot Dustin Brown in his opening round match.
Dustin delivered an impressive performance against the world no. 5 fighting through tiebreak at second to set to win in three sets by 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3.
Despite Zverev won 82 per cent of his first-service point and serving 21 aces, he was outshone by his German compatriots who brilliantly engaged his forehand and wrapped the match up with a backhand crop shot which Zverev netted on return.
Having progressed to the quarter-final, the 34-year-old will meet Candian teenage player Felix Auger-Aliassime who eliminated Gilles Simon in straight sets, 7-5 6-4.
