Stormzy Makes History As First Black British Artist To Headline Glastonbury Festival

Stormzy printed his name in the history book of Glastonbury festival as the first black British artist to headline the concert on Friday.

The London-born grimmer stormed the stage dressed in a stab proof vest with a Union Jack print on, using the stage to drive home his message against racial profiling, politics and especially knife crime which has taken 61 lives in London in the last six months.

He started his performance with his 2015 hit song 'Know Me From', but prior to setting off the show a clip of Jay-Z offering him a piece of advice had first come up the big screen.

Just before the beat dropped, there was one thing on his mind and he told the huge crowd that the night was "most legendary night" he ever had in his life and promised there are many to yet come saying "Glasto, It's only the f***** beginning."

Stormzy, who is the youngest solo artist ever to headline Glastonbury after David Bowie who did at 24-year-old also wrote in a tweeted message hours before the show: "this is the most surreal feeling I've ever experienced."

Later in the show, three ballet dancers joined him onstage for his song "Don't Cry For Me" for a blend of ballet and hip hop which grimmer also said in a screen behind the stage "have not traditionally been made to match black skin tones. Until now."

Well over 100,000 audiences were at the festival and joined him in call and response as he ranted at politicians on stage.
