Queen's Club Championship: Gilles Simon Set Up Final Match Against Feliciano Lopez

Gilles Simon is set for an appearance in the final of the match of Queen's Club Championship after outlasting Russian veteran Daniil Medvedev in the semi-finals.

The Frenchman saved six break points against the eighth seed and clinched the victory in three sets in three sets 6-7(4), 6-4, 6-3 after two hours and forty minutes of play. Simon will be bidding for his title at Fever-Tree Championship on Sunday.

"It's a really hard tournament to win and one of the best in the season," said Simon who won four break points and won 73 per cent of his first-serve to reach his first final of the season "I'd like to be part of that list, but I'm just focused on recovering now and we'll see what happens tomorrow."

In the final, Simon will face Feliciano Lopez who escaped an earlier scare from Canadian teenager Felix Auger-Aliassime to win in three sets, 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-3.

Alliassime entered the round as the competition youngest player in the semi-finals since 1999 and was off for his fifth ATP World tour final before losing to the Spaniard on their first career meeting.

There was no stopping of the Canadian on aces (25), but Feliciano saved all eight break points against him and converted two.

"He's a difficult player to beat on grass," the 37-year-old admitted "He keeps the ball low. He has this huge serve that is giving him a lot of free points. And then he's moving really well and covering well the court."
