Queen's Club Championship: British No. 2 Cameron Norrie Knocked Out By Kevin Anderson In Opening Round Match


British player Cameron Norrie tried his best but could not make it past Kevin Anderson in the opening round match on Monday at Fever Tree Championship at Queen's Club in London.

Norrie started off strong at the opener against the second seed who broke back and battled through tiebreak in the second set, then rode through to win in three sets 4-6, 7-5(5), 6-4.

The Briton broke Anderson's serve in the fifth game of the decider but the South African veteran had the upper hand in the game and broke the set serving out the 23-year-old.

"Cameron is a tough opponent and it was a very good match," said Anderson who played through an elbow injury "It's been a tough year, but there has been a lot of time and effort put in to get me back out there."

The 2018 Wimbledon finalist will in the next match, take on French veteran Gilles Simon who outclassed British player James Wards in three 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(2).
