Nations League: Cristiano Ronaldo Snubs Celebrating With Bernando Silva On Winning Player of the Tournament Award
Cristiano Ronaldo finished the season by winning the Uefa Nations League for Portugal but he was beaten to the Player of the Tournament Award by teammate Bernando Silva.
This was difficult to bear for the five-time Balon d'Or winner who propelled the team into final by scoring a hat-trick to beat Switzerland 3-1 in the semi-finals.
He did not have the luxury of scoring goals against the Netherlands in final as Virgil van Dijk held him off and it was Goncalo Guedes who scored the winning goal in 60th minutes.
The Manchester City player cheerfully walked up to his teammate after being announced as the winner of the award but Ronaldo simply looked away and snubbed request for a hug whilst others slapped him on the head.
However, the 24-year-old in his statement after collecting the award was pleased with his performance through the season and at the tournament.
"I'm happy to have helped the team," he said for receiving the award "Of Course, the most important thing was that Portugal won, but when you can add an individual award to it, then that's also good."
