Lewis Hamilton Hopes To Upset Michael Schumacher's Record, Says "I Can Do Another Five Years"
Lewis Hamilton may have a season left in his contract with Mercedes but that would not amount to the end of his title chase. In fact, his thirst to still stay on for more years remain unquenched still.
Hamilton, a five-time Formula One champion, believes there are still more titles for him to win and even if he could not pass the record set by Michael Schumacher, he would still ride on with his career.
During a conversation with David Letterman on Netflix's series "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction", the defending champion said he hopes to carry on until his interest is not there any more.
"Michael retired when he was 38 - I'm 33 ( now 34)...I mean in my mind I can definitely do another five years," he told Letterman.
Michael leads Formula One's all-time biggest winners with seven titles whilst Hamilton trailed in second place tied with Juan Manuel Fangio with five titles.
The Briton currently lead in this season's championship title race with 137 points and has won the most pole position (85) in the sport's history. He possibly might join Ferrari when his contract expires in 2020 since it is apparent that Mercedes are not hoping to offer him a contract extension.
"I've got this opportunity, and I could easily let go of it right now, but I feel like I would be squandering it if I didn't continue to improve, grow and push."
