Italy's Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo To Host 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics


Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo have won a joint-hosting right of the 2026 Winter Olympics and Paralympics.

"Congratulations to Milan-Cortina. We can look forward to an outstanding and sustainable Olympic Winter Game in a traditional winter sports country," the IOC president Thomas Bach said.

Italy was contested against by Sweden with Stockholm-Are joint bid in the final vote after other four contestants - Switzerland, Japan, Austria and Canada had bren ruled out.

He concluded on his statement with an assurance that the Games' "Italian fans, together with experienced venue operators" will help make the sporting event worth it.
