Halle Open: Roger Federer Wins Season's First Title And 10th In Halle
Roger Federer has emerged as the champion of Halle Open having defeated David Goffin in the final match on Sunday to claim his first title of the season.
This will be the Swiss' 13th appearance in the final for an all-time biggest title run at the competition totalling at 10, extending his career tour-level titles to 102th
The top seed won in straight sets 7-6(2), 6-1 within an hour and a half and did not win a break points until second set when he won straight four games in a row to win the match and improved 68-in-75 in total sets won in Halle.
Meanwhile, Federer saved three break points against the Belgian who held him to a tough opening set battling through a tiebreak but the world no. 3 won most match points to win the set.
Federer made up for his defeated in the final last season to Borna Coric. This season did not go down well with the Croatian who was eliminated in the third round by Joao Sousa.
