Golden State Warriors Plans To Offer Klay Thompson Five-Year Contract Of £190 Million
Golden State Warriors are considering an offer a full five-year contract of £190 million to Klay Thompson in an effect to keep him in the team.
The franchise general manager Bob Mayers is understood to be keen on the deal and is expected to commence talks with Thompson's agent Greg Lawrence as soon as free agency opens on Sunday at 6 p.m. ET according to ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski.
Thompson featured in Warriors' five consecutive NBA final appearances and played through torn ACL injury in the past NBA Finals which they lost to Toronto Raptors. However, the 29-year-old has one of the biggest 3-pointers in NBA history - 1,798 to be 16th of all-time best.
Adrian also revealed that there are teams hoping to land a deal with Thomson in free agency but have given up having realised the five-time All-Star guard will not be returning to Warriors.
Losing Thompson in free agency could be a big blow to the team and Warriors realise that. Thereby, they are just ensuring he returns but are also reportedly planning to offer Kevin Durant five-year maximum contract of £221 million
