French Open: Roger Federer, Nadal Ease Into Fifth Round
Roger Federer has extended his winning to 12 consecutive sets at Roland Garros where he is making his first appearance at the competition since 2015.
Leonardo Mayer was thrashed in three sets 6-2 6-3 6-3 by the five-time finalist to reach his 12th quarter-finals and maintained clean book of 3:0 with the Argentine in ATP Fedex head-to-head.
Federer pointed out that the windy weather condition was something he had to deal with but said what was Important was to focus there "and I did that well, and very pleased with the game."
The 2009 champion is the older player ever to reach the last 8 in Roland Garros and will meet in his next match Stan Wawrinka who outlasted Stefanos Tsitsipas in a thrilling third round match by 7-6(6), 7-5, 6-4, 3-6, 8-6.
In later draw, Nadal from the opening set quickly broke Juan-Ignacio Londero to take the lead and dominated the round through routing Argentine in three sets 6-2 6-3 6-3.
