Eastbourne International: Taylor Fritz Beats Sam Querrey To Win First Tour-Level Title
American player Taylor Fritz has won his first ever tour-level title in Nature Valley International having won the final match against Sam Querrey in straight sets 6-3 6-4 on Saturday.
En route to the final, Fritz survived a scare from Kyle Edmund in the semi-finals and eliminated the British no. 1 in straight sets to set up a final against his compatriot, Sam.
"It's so amazing. I almost can't even believe it," Fritz said who improved 3:2 in ATP FedEx series with the San Francisco native "I've wanted to win a tour title ever since I made the final of one when I was 18."
Sam saved only one in three break points against Fritz and won 67 per cent of his first-serve points during the match that lasted for an hour. Fritz will take $117,925 in winning prize money while the world no. 79 will earn $63, 765.
