Benfica Forward Joao Felix Links To Atletico Madrid Despite Buyout Clause Of £107 Million
Benfica star player Joao Felix is set for a big move to Atletico Madrid at a transfer fee that will be a club-record signing for the Spaniards.
Felix is also reportedly linked two Manchester City and Manchester United and he is understood to have favoured a move to Atletico than any of the two Premier League sides.
What makes this 19-year-old that costly is the release clause of £107.5 m (120m euros) in his contract with Benfica. Since the La Liga giants are in need of replacing departing Antonio Griezmann, the Portuguese has been considered to fit into manager Diego Simeone's game plan for next season according to Marca.
"If Joao Felix and other players with different characteristics arrive, we'll have to update ourselves," Simeone said.
He stands to be the second biggest teenage signing after Kylian Mbappe's £180m switch from Monaco to Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 - he would fifth biggest record signing after Neymar Jr. Mbappe, Barcelona's Philippe Coutino and Ousmane Dembele.
Felix who is a product of Benfica youth academy and has a record of 15 goals in 26 appearances since his promotion to the senior team in 2018.
