AS Roma: Shakhtar Donetsk's Paulo Fonseca Appointed As Club's New Manager
AS Roma have signed Shakhtar Donetsk boss Paulo Fonseca to a three-year contract as a replacement for Claudio Ranieri who was reappointed by the club after eight years.
Ranieri, signed in March as interim manager after Eusebio di Francesco was sacked, led the club to finish in sixth place in the Italian Serie and sacked despite having an option to extend his contract that ran until summer.
"I am excited and motivated by the task ahead," said the former Ukranian side's manager "I cannot wait to move to Rome, meet our fans and get started."
The 46-year-old in three years spell at the club, led the team to win a double back-to-back - Ukranian Premier League (2016-17 and 2017-18) and Ukranian Cup (2016-17 and 2017-18).
