Spanish GP Qualifying: Valtteri Bottas Beats Lewis Hamilton For Third Pole Position In A Row
Valtteri Bottas maintained pole-winning streak with his third in a row after beating teammate Lewis Hamilton for the position at Spanish Grand Prix qualifying on Saturday.
On the other hand, Hamilton for a second time in a row will be trailing Bottas in a qualifying session and the Finn driver his also leading him by a point in driver standings for this season's championship title race.
"The season has started well and the way I hope for. I feel better and better in the car," says the 29-year-old who won only two poles and no race has won two in four race this season - Azerbaijan and Australian Grand Prix - to have a career total of five race.
Bottas, in 1:15.406 crossed the finish line as Hamilton trailed in second place in +0.634 seconds and Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel came third in +0.866 seconds.
"Valtteri has been quick all weekend and I just didn't put the laps together," Hamilton lamented losing pole position "It just wasn't a good enough job. I will be giving it everything tomorrow. We will try to convert into a one-time finish and if I can reverse it I will be happy"
If Hamilton's expectations turned out to be true tomorrow at the final, it will be Mercedes' fifth consecutive one-two finish of the season.
