Nigerian Singer Naira Marley Facing 11-Count Charges For Alleged Credit Card Fraud
A Nigerian pop singer Azeez Fashola otherwise known as Naira Marley has been held in prison and charged to court for an alleged credit card fraud.
Last Friday, Marley and another famous artist Zlatan Ibile alongside three other accomplices were arrested by the country's anti-graft agency EFCC (Economic and Financial Crimes Commission) for their involvement in cybercrime.
Zlatan and the three others were later released without bail but Marley was held back specifically for glorifying the act of cybercrime in his music, a Nigerian publishing outlet SaharaReporters stated.
However, Marley is currently facing 11-count charges at the Lagos State High Court filed against him by the authorities.
As stated in the country's Money Laundry and Cyber Crime Act, the "Am I A Yahoo Boy" risks not less than seven years in prison or a fine of £10,800 and "forfeiture of the advantage or value derived from his act" if found convicted.
