Europa League Last Four: Alexandre Lacazette Scores Twice As Arsenal Beat Valencia 3-1 In First Leg
Arsenal came from behind to defeat Valencia 3-1 in the first leg of the semi-final tie with Alexandre Lacazette scoring twice to put Gunner ahead before Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang completed the victory.
The Spaniard pressured their English opponents from the start to have scoring chances from early stages of the match before it finally paid off with Mouctar Diakhaby heading into the goal a cross from Rodrigo Moreno.
After Maitland-Niles' nearly Arsenal in trouble following a poor headed pass to Petr Cech, Lacazette launched a counter-attack with a pass to Aubameyang who raced with the ball into the Spaniard's box and slot a pass to oncoming Lacazette to smacked in the net for the equaliser in 18th minutes.
Minutes later, the Frenchman scored the second goal with a header to Granit Xhaka's cross which VAR ruled had already crossed the line Valencia goalkeeper Murara Neto pushed to safety.
Aubameyang would complete the scoring on the 90th minutes with a volley to Sead Kolasinac's cross from inside the box.
Having won the game, Arsenal edged closer to making it into the Europa League final and won need to win or at least draw when hosted by the Spaniards at Mestalla Stadium on 9th May.
