EFL Championship Playoffs Final: Aston Villa Beat Derby County 2-1 To Clinch Promotion To Premier League

After spending three seasons in the EFL Championship, Aston Villa won the playoffs final by 2-1 over Derby County to return to the Premier League.
Villa entered the final on penalties against West Bromwich after drawing 2-2 on aggregate in the semi-final last week Tuesday.
El Mohamady set off the scoring with a cross into the box for Anwar El Ghazi to head for the opening goal on the brink of half time.
Derby slid behind with two goals deficit as John McGinn headed in Jack Grealish's volley shot just after an hour of play.
With two goals lead, Villa did the needful and held off Derby who came back strong and nailed in a late goal from Martyn Waghorn inside the box with headed but would lose eventually the final.
Frank Lampard's side barely threatened Villa until they had drifted apart before they upped their game to stay on, unfortunately, it was too late for them.
Last year, Villa failed to get promotion to Premier League having lost in 1-0 in the final to Fulham which have been demoted to the Championship - they finished Premier League 2018/2019 season in 19th place with 26 points.
