Brighton & Albion Hove Sack Its Manager Chris Hughton
Chris Hughton has been dismissed as Brighton & Albion Hove manager after four and a half year reign at the club.
Seagulls escaped relegation zone by a whisker with just two points to stay in the Premier League after winning just three of their last 23 games to finish 17th above Cardiff City, Fulham, and Huddersfield which relegated.
In a statement from the club's chairman, Tony Bloom, he praised the 60-year-old ex-manager for leading the club to its first ever promotion to the Premier League after they won their first ever playoffs in the EFL Championship.
"Chris has done an excellent job," says Tony "First stabilizing our club - reaching the playoffs in his first full season - securing our first ever promotion to the Premier League, and retaining our status in two consecutive seasons."
Hughton who also led the club to the FA Cup semi-finals will be leaving the club with his assistant Paul Trollope and first team coach Paul Nevin.
Tony added that sacking Hughton is one of his "most difficult decision" he had to make as the club's chairman and blamed it on the team's "three wins from 23 Premier League" as what brought their status to "significant risk".
Sending off the former manager he said: "Chris will always be very fondly remembered by Albion staff and fans as one of our club's finest and most respected managers."
