Anthony Joshua Wants Deontay Wilder's WBC Belt To Feel Complete
Anthony Joshua debunked the notion that he is already on top of his career but to him, Deontay Wilder's WBC belt is the only one remaining that will make him feel like he has finally made it.
Whilst bout with Wilder cannot be said to be coming up anytime soon, one fight is just around the corner for the Briton and that is with Andy Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.
The undefeated WBA, IBO and WBO champions will be fighting for the first time in nine months against Ruiz who has won 21-in-32 fight by knockout losing just one.
When asked about his preparedness for a showdown with the 29-year-old California-native this weekend and the glamour of being the face New Yorkers see on billboards, instead the British fighter opened up on his desire to win Wilder's belt someday.
"Yeah, it looks like I've made it but it's only when I put my hand on the last title," Joshua replied, "Win on Saturday - then I can say I've made it."
"It's been down to calculated steps. It's been a good journey, a tough journey. On the sides of the journey there are billboards, then with time, two billboards but it's all about winning this sport."
Just as Joshua, Wilder also longed to engage him someday and assured his fans when he was asked after his last fight with Dominic Breazeale
"It's going to happen. It will happen. I believe with all my heart," says Wilder "I believe it's our obligation to give the fan what they want."
