Shazam Takes Box Office Top Spot With $56.7M Opening Gross

Warner Bros' superhero film 'Shazam' started off atop the box office with $53.4m from the domestic market on its opening weekend.
Despite being DC Film's lowest debut in four years after Fantastic Four, it hauled in a remarkable $102m from the international,  bringing its gobal cumul to a whopping $158.7 million - adding $3.3m from preview screening to its domestic gross.
Coming in second place his Pet Semetry with an opening domestic gross of $25m and a sober $17m from the international market.
Jordan Peele's 'Us' would followed in fourth place on its third weekend with $13.8m in domestic takings.
In spite of dropping 58.6% over the weekend, the horror film has not done badly for Peele hauling in $216.5 million globally in three weekends.
