Shazam! Reigns Atop Box Office In Second Weekend Whilst Hellboy III Debut With Awful $12 Million

Hellboy III had an embarrassing opening weekend in the domestic market with a miserable gross of $12 million whilst Shazam! continued to stay atop at the box with $23.1 million in its second weekend - a 53% drop in its opening gross.
Despite the third entry of Hellboy coming after a decade, it failed to cinemagoers' choice film, making it the franchise's worst performance compared to what the first instalment pulled on its debut in 2004 ($23 million) and nearly three-fold less of Hellboy II: The Golden Army gulped in 2008 ($35 million).
However, it is a different story for Shazam! which has raked $126.3 million in the international market so far and having a global cumul of $221.2 million.
Universal's 'Little' came second will a domestic gross of $15.49 million screening from 2,667 theatres. It managed to take a humble $1.9 million from the international market. Yet, it fell short of its budget of $20 million.
