Premier League: Manchester City Regain Table Lead With 1-0 Away Victory Over Burnley
Manchester City did the needful against Burnley and defeated the hosts 1-0 as they moved closer to defending the Premier League back-to-back with a return to the top spot of the table.
Burnley did not have much chance to threaten their opponents who repeatedly came close to scoring more than just a lone goal but had their goalkeeper Tom Heaton and defender Ben Mee to save them from Aymeric Laporte Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus attempts.
City's forward Aguero opened the scoring after VAR confirmed that his left-footed shot from inside in box had already gone past the line before Matthew Lowton cleared it to safety.
The Argentine extended his scoring streak to nine goals in eight games in a row whilst Clarets remained winless against City in all competitions for eight straight games.
Arguero, speaking about VAR validation of his goal said "I'm very happy with the goal because the first we had chances. I was happy for the technology - I thought it was over the line!"
The match victory would be City's 12th consecutive game win in the Premier League and have leapfrogged over title rivals Liverpool to lead by just a point as Reds trailed in second place with 91 points.
