Nigerian-born Israel Adesanya Wins UFC Middleweight Champions
Nigerian-born and New Zealand's mixed martial art fighter Israel Adesanya has became middleweight champions after beating Kelvin Gastelum at the UFC 236 bout on Sunday at Atlanta, Georgia.
Isreal followed his compatriot Kamaru Uman, who won the UFC235 championship last month, with a fifth round victory over Gastelum by 135-68 in total strikes.
From the opening round, it all seemed as Gastelum was going to make it a bad for Adesanya, but the Nigerian-native staged a thrilling comeback in second and third round making significant strikes.
Gastelum regained his grip in the fourth round but Adesanya had him overpowered in the fifth round and was declared the winner by the judges.
Despite losing to Adesanya, Gastelum expressed his gratitude to His fans and supporters and promised to be better and healing from injuries sustained from the bout.
